主讲人简介:

Dr. Zhenggui Tang received BSc in Physical Chemistry, MSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and PhD in Biomaterials. He actively participated in research and development of yak pericardium for tissue heart valve consideration at Sichuan University, and of polymeric composite materials for polymeric heart valve consideration at National University of Singapore. Before joining UK Centre for Tissue Engineering, he was project manager initiating 3D printing for tissue scaffold manufacturing at Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMT). Nurtured at the multimillion supported UK Centre for Tissue Engineering, he became biomaterials specialist for European Research Consortium FP6 Project –MyJoint in 2007 and initiated FP7 Project-Hyanji Scaffold in 2008. Within European FP7 period from 2008 to 2013, Dr. Zhenggui Tang secured three FP7 projects, Hyanji Scaffold in 2008; Heptag Exchange in 2011; and Nanodiscan in 2013. Within 6 years from 2008, Dr. Zhenggui Tang was promoted from Senior Lecturer, to Reader and eventually Chair Professor in Pharmaceutics. Dr. Zhenggui Tang was a board director of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences from 2010-2014 and initiated many effective and active research innovative networks and training programmes.

讲座题目:Solid Dispersion Systems for Formulation Consideration

讲座内容:

Active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are classified into four groups on the basis of their solubilityand permeability. APIs of low solubility are Class II and IV groups which comprise of approximately 30-40% of the solid dosage forms on the WHO Essential Medicine List in 2004. Solid dispersion for solubility enhancement is the primary consideration of formulation strategies. Solid dispersion through melting and solvent evaporation approaches aims to moderate APIs from crystalline into amorphous state with better dissolution profile, eventually facilitate better plasma availability of APIs. In this presentation, case studies are focused on hot melt extrusion and spray drying. Relevant materials information, process parameters and characterisation techniques will be introduced for further consideration.

  Dr. Chen received his Ph.D. degree from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1992 and joined Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1996 after over three years of bridge design, inspection, and construction practices with Steinman Consulting Engineers in New York City. He was granted two patents and authored over 350 publications in structural health monitoring, smart structures, interface mechanics and deterioration, bridge engineering, and multi-hazard effects. He received the 1998 National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the 2004 Academy of Civil Engineers Faculty Achievement Award, and the 2009, 2011, and 2013 Missouri S&T Faculty Research Awards. He is Chair of the 9th International Conference on Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure in 2019, Editor of Intelligent Sensors, Associate Editor of the Journal of Civil Structural Health Monitoring, Editorial Member of Advances in Structural Engineering, and Vice President of the U.S. Panel on Structural Control and Monitoring. He was elected to ASCE Fellow in 2007 and Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Fellow in 2013. In 2016, he was nominated and inducted into the Academy of Civil Engineers at Missouri S&T and became an honorary member of Chi Episolon.

讲座内容简介:

  Recent developments in robotic technology and measurement science can potentially revolutionize the way and process that civil infrastructures are constructed and preserved. In this grand yet challenging transition era, automation and infromatics are two emerging concepts that will generate a wide range and long list of innovations in civil engineering. The main contents of this report are as follows:

    1) In this presentation, new developments and potential applications of nondestructive evaluations, sensing systems, imaging systems, data analytics, climbing robots, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and 3D printing technologies will be introduced and reviewed.

    2) For new construction, how 3D printing of concrete and UAV can change the construction industry of civil infrastructures will be discussed.

    3) For preservation of existing infrastructures, how sensing and imaging systems and robots can be integrated into the current practice of visual inspection in a systematic framework, thus transforming the current ad-hoc approach to a data-driven management of bridges, will be discussed.

    4) Some of the challenges in leveraging sensing, imaging, communication, and computer simulation tools for managing existing infrastructures will be identified.

主讲人介绍:

Dr. Peiliang Xu studied at Wuhan University of Surveying & Mapping for 10 years and was conferred the first doctoral degree in geodesy in China in 1989. He then worked at Delft University of Technology, Stuttgart University and the University of Calgary as a postdoctoral researcher or an Alexander von Humbolt research Fellow before joining Kyoto University as an assistant professor in 1997. His research areas include space geodesy, satellite gravimetry, inverse problem theory, differential equations with unknown parameters, statistics and probability and applied optimization. His current research interest is mainly in mathematical seismology. He has published more than 80 scientific papers in a number of journals. His major scientific works include the qualitybased TSVD method and joint inversion theory, the signconstrained least squares method, integer estimation theory, measurement based perturbation and differential equation parameter estimation.

Prof. Shuhei Okubo was the director of Earthquake Research Institute at the University of Tokyo. He has been involved in the development and application of gravimetric methods for studying earthquake processes. He has presented comprehensive formulae on co-seismic gravity changes in various media including the simplest homogeneous elastic half-space and the most sophisticated stratified spherical viscoelastic earth. Through these theoretical works, the Guy Bomford Prize was awarded to him in 1991 by the International Association of Geodesy. He stepped further from the theoretical work to field measurement using a state-of-the-art FG5 absolute gravimeters. It was his group that found unambiguous co-seismic gravity change for the first time in the world (Tanaka et al., 2001) and very minute far-field gravity signal (Imanishi et al. 2004). He applied the theory on post-seismic gravity change to evaluation of secular gravity change around subduction plate boundaries.
